My computer wireless isnt comming up.Help Please?

Hi,
appreciate some help with this.
My computer has wifi on it and it usually just connects normally. nothing wrong with my wifi router because my itouch is working fine on it.
but i opened something that was already installed on my computor which doesnt work but its blocking the normal way to search for wireless.
im using windows xp.
I've a fare idea on computers but not an expert so please try lamens terms if you can.

Appreciate any advice.

god everyone hates wireless.
first of all check that the wifi is still enabled?! (stupid i know.. but i've done it)
then check your virus checker, norton usually has hissy fits at times like this.
