| Ubuntu Jaunty: Can't find PHP interpreter
I'm trying to find the php5 interpreter on my Ubuntu Jaunty system and I'm stumped. I looked in the properties within the package manager and apparently, when it installs, the files go all over the machine! There are files in at least 15 directories. I'm trying to point another app at the interpreter. |

Did you install the web server? Any app residing within the web spaces should find and use PHP. -- -bts -Friends don't let friends drive Windows |

Yep...It's posted in the linux group but *I think it has relevance here as well. Sometimes if I don't get useful feedback on a problem involving multiple technologies, I post in the relevant groups. Sorry if this is a problem for anyone. I usually return to update and give everyone the benefit if I find the answer because some here may now or eventually experience the same difficulty. The reason I couldn't find the php interpreter was because it wasn't installed. On my linux system I *think there may be several phps; a command line version, a cgi version, etc. (Shed light here if anyone knows for sure) Eclipse PDT which I'm trying to use as my IDE installs a lite version?? of one of these (this is supposition) and that's why phpinfo() got executed when php was not present. Confusing...yes. LAMP stack with Eclipse PDT; a total hairball to get working. |

That way the post is visible in those groups so that one does not waste time answering it in one group when it is already adequately answered in another. -- Take care, Jonathan ------------------- LITTLE WORKS STUDIO http://www.LittleWorksStudio.com |
