CRT or LCD for gaming

I'm in the market for a new monitor. I was considering LCD but have
read that for gaming CRT is better. Is this true?
Any thoughts on this subject?

CRT or LCD for gaming

Quite a few new LCDs are coming out that have response fast enough for
gaming.
My Dell 24" LCDs work great in even FPS games in very high rez.

Likewise, I've got a Dell 20" LCD and it looks fantastic in high res
during Half-Life 2, Far Cry (and at lower rezes for Q4 and FEAR).

The response rate is easily quick enough and the screens actually look
clearer/more defined than they used to on my old 19" CRT.

Cheers,

Andy

No, not anymore.

....more of an emotion than a thought, but I'd like the 30" model, please:
http://tinyurl.com/7jjwo. 2560 x1600 res with a 16ms pixel refresh response
time.

Tony.

Yes.

A 16ms response equates to about 60Hz, so a 12ms response rate equates to
about 80Hz. Perfectly fine for game playing.

Not that refresh rates mean anything on LCD screens.

Cheers,

Andy

says...
My old HP1702 with 25ms response time is more than sufficient.

LCD's have easily matured to the point where they are more than good enough
for gaming. Just be sure to check out any model you may be interested in
ahead of time to see how true the blacks are because this can be an issue
with some LCD's. Personally, I'm glad I made the switch from CRT to LCD
earlier this year, and this is to say nothing of some of the other side
benefits such as lower power consumption, more available desk space and not
so much heat spewing out (very nice for the summer).

Better wait for the upcoming Dell 3005FPW. Same size, same resolution,
but more flexible, longer warranty, and probably around half the prize...

But these displays also require a gfx card with Dual Link DVI...
