MySQL question on Mac (localhost)?

Hi, I have Apache, PHP5 & MySQL installed on my Mac. How do I go about installing a database on my computer so it can interact with php? Do you have to drag it somewhere (i.e. usr/local/mysql/....)? and then put the address in my php file? I've already got mysql running through shell. thanks.
