| Just a note
This really isn't a very busy news group but I'm running Debian "Etch" xfce so thought I'de stick a note in and say something about the OS. I put an earlier version of Debian on a smaller hard drive and liked it so when put an 80 gig hard drive in I tried the xfce version with it's smaller foot print. It has been interesting because it came without the Synaptic package manager so I had to figure out how to install it from the CLI using Aptitude. Then using Synaptic I had to install Hal so I could see and use my flash drives. I don't use the computer for anything special like a server or connecting other computers to this one so I just fool around with it, read a couple of news groups and experiment with the information I read. I have four different operating systems on four different harddrives so I enjoy trying things out. This xfce option has been a real learning experience. Li'l Al |
