agpgart

Could someone please take the time to explain how "agpgart" works and
what "internal agpgart" is.

There are hundreds of "howtos" around for installing ATI drivers : none
of which work for me. The whole "internalagpgart" thing has now
scrambled my brains.

What does it mean? Does it mean different things? Is "internal" only in
reference to the kernel? Or when used in conjunction with the ATI drive
is it "internal to the ATI driver"?

Any info greatly appreciated.
