What's wrong with my A/C?

I have a 2000 Mazda 626 and the A/C NEVER seems to get the car cold on moderately hot days. It barely gets the car "cool". I took it into the dealership 3 weeks ago and they recharged it and said it was working fine as far as they could see. It was about 70-something degrees that day and when we got the car back we were freezing with the air on.

But now it's in the mid 80's everyday and I will have the air on in the car and still be SWEATING. My main concern is that I have a 2 month old who cannot stay sitting in a hot car while I am driving. Also for the last two days everytime I start the car I smell something similar to lighter fluid. I don't know if this could be related to the a/c.

I am calling the dealership tomorrow to see if they can take a look at it again, but just wondered if you guys had any ideas.

the same thing happened to use with a nissan pick up, it was little particales cloging small lines and not letting the freon through when they recharged it oly med the particle out of the way and now they back, u need to have it flushed and cleaned and filled back up.

That lighter fluid smell could be the solvent inside the expansion valve bulb. You would only smell it when it leaks.
